Gospel Rescue Mission Tucson

Tucson, AZ

Shelter:
Our Shelter Program is located at the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation Center of Opportunity, where over 30 social service organizations work together to holistically address mental, physical, and spiritual issues so that guests can find long-term success and healing. The Center of Opportunity is a collaborative campus that offers access to medical, dental, and mental health care; employment; veterans, government, and children’s services; and so much more.

When guests arrive, they are welcomed and offered a nutritious meal. Our team of compassionate advocates works with guests to assess their needs and develop a plan that helps them establish stability and reclaim their lives.

Most guests come to us with several obstacles that need to be addressed for them to be successful. These might be unemployment, lack of education, mental health, trauma, abuse, and addiction.

Eligibility:
Shelter guests must be sober and not using any illegal substances. Guests are accepted based on bed availability and without discrimination. Our shelter is wheelchair accessible. However, shelter guests must be able to get around and care for their daily needs (dress, shower, eat, etc.).

Recovery:
Our faith-based recovery program helps men and women struggling with addiction uncover underlying issues that led to their addiction and homelessness. We work with each person individually because each person’s journey is unique. For some, this is a quick process and for others, it could take several months or longer. Our goal is to help our guests achieve lasting restoration and peace so they are able to lead fulfilling productive lives.

Recovery for men is offered at the Center of Opportunity, and for women at the Women’s Recovery Center.

Employment:
Living-wage employment is vital to long-term stability. Lack of education, life skills, or interpersonal skills can be barriers to transformation and successful living. Our guest advocates work with shelter guests to develop a plan that will help guide them on the path to self-sufficiency. This plan may include providing education, life skills development, and computer literacy.

Housing:
The ultimate goal is for our guests to move from homelessness to self-sufficiency. We walk alongside each on their journey and provide practical support and assistance to help them make the transition to independent living.
