Mission Neighborhood Health Center

Founded in 2002 as a community response to the neighborhood’s growing homeless population, the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center (MNRC) advocates for housing and resources to enhance the physical, social, emotional and economic health of homeless residents in the 16th street corridor and surrounding Mission neighborhood. MNRC employs a service model based on harm-reduction principles and practices that focus on community building, basic human needs, and integrated health services for a diverse population as they move toward greater stability and well being. MNRC offers services that are bilingual, free of charge and available on a drop-in basis.

Daytime Drop-In Services:
- Safe space during the day and access to bathrooms, showers, and laundry services
- Peer counseling
- Case management
- Shelter reservations
- Lockers
- Community building activities

Medical Clinic:

Primary care: preventative services and acute/”sick” visits
- Wound and abscess care
- Tuberculosis screening and vaccination
- Integrated behavioral health (counseling and psychiatry)
- HIV and STD Testing
- Medication access programs
- Dental care

Community Programs:
Weekly support groups: Blackness, El Grupo (Spanish), and Men’s group
- Community and Leadership Development: Neighborhood Internship for men and L-Nternship for women
- Ladies’ Night: a safe and supportive space for biological and transgender females who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, in collaboration with Women’s Community Clinic and Homeless Youth Alliance
- New programs: Monthly Men’s Saturday and LGBT Saturday
- Education and cultural events

Housing Support:
Casa Quezada: a 52-unit long term housing facility, managed in collaboration with Dolores Street Community Services and the SFDPH Direct Access to Housing Program. MNRC provides Case management and behavioral health services to tenants of Casa Quezada.

MNRC also provides outreach and case management services to SRO tenants in the Mission, as part of the Mission SRO Collaborative.
